About Us

Who’s Behind VamosGlasgow ?

My name is Silvia

I am passionate about languages, cultures and people, so I am truly a vocational teacher.

I remember teaching my dolls and teddies from the beginning of time! The fascination with other countries and languages took me to study English at university and everything fell into place after that.

I am the founder of VamosGlasgow, where we bring people a different experience when learning Spanish: less formal teaching in a less academic background. The lessons are more personal, fun and engaging, with real Spanish being used to deal with real situations and real people.

Outside the class, I love spending time with my friends, singing my heart out in choir, listening to history podcasts, sneaking out to other countries and dancing until I drop. Home is Asturias, Glasgow and the world 😉

How are we different

?

We deliver language classes that not only teach the #realSpanish, but also bring people together.

We like seeing our amigos weekly and chatting with them.

We use an interactive and personalized approach, which means you will start to understand and speak

        Spanish from day one!

We connect our students with the Spanish culture through our events and gatherings outside the class.

We love las tardes de tapas, la música y el baile and the trips to the cinema to watch Spanish films

together to bring Spanish into the real world!

We create our own materials so you get customised handouts and worksheets. We are aware every

person is different and learns in their own way. We adapt to yours, not you to us!

Why should I enrol in your classes, Silvia?

I have been teaching languages for over 20 years; you are in the best hands!

Our team is the loveliest bunch! Our objective is to give you the best experience, getting to know about

Spanish people through us. Everything learnt whilst having fun is proven to be remembered so much

     easily and for longer!

After more than 15 years in Scotland, I have a special connection with the Scottish culture. I know what

works and what is easier for you. We explain things a way you will understand, plain and simple.

Our main objective is to show the world learning Spanish is a fun thing to do for people of all ages and

backgrounds. You just need the will and patience – #spanishfunforall

Languages are a representation of culture and people. Our lessons will help understand what makes us

unique, but how similar we all are too!

“I like that the classes are very participative with lots of practice.  I also like that the topics are very relevant and have a cultural context in addition to learning the language.”

Why VamosGlasgow ?

Throughout the years I have seen a lot of students:

      •  Get bored easily when they are learning Spanish
      • Want to stop doing essays or exams and start to practise real Spanish.
      • Able to read easily, but struggling with talking in person, even basic conversations!
      • Want to connect more deeply with the Spanish culture.
      • Want to practise what they are learning in more laidback contexts with natives and likeminded people.

…and this is why VamosGlasgow was born!

VamosGlasgow is a language school where you will learn and connect with the Spanish culture in a friendly environment.

Meet our Amazing Team!

Johanna

Mi nombre es Johanna y soy de Bogotá (Colombia). I have been living in Glasgow for six years doing what I love, which is teaching Spanish! I have been a languages teacher for over 10 years, so I am really passionate about my profession.

Bringing my native language into a new culture has been an absolutely exciting experience, sharing traditions, perspectives, and exchanging knowledge. It’s not only about learning a language, but also about connecting with people, building confidence, and enjoying the process.

As a proud Colombian, I love dancing salsa and all Latin American rhythms; it’s part of my energy! I also enjoy making arepas, empanadas and sharing a taste of my culture.

Let’s learn some fun and real Spanish together ¡vamos!

Concha

Hola, me llamo Concha y soy de Sevilla. I have been a Spanish teacher for more than 8 years now, so I can safely say it’s my passion!

I moved to Glasgow 3 years ago to join my Glaswegian husband and, oh my! I thought I was fluent in English! It took me a while to be able to take part in a conversation within native speakers and feel comfortable going to the shops, cafés, etc. by myself. So believe when I say that I have been where you are. I know your struggle. In my classes, I will give you the tools you need to overcome the fear of loosening up and get confident speaking Spanish!

My outside-of-work self loves to dance, specially bachata and salsa, going out for walks with my dog and discover hidden corners of nature in this amazing country! Te cuento más en clase, ¿no? ¡Nos vemos pronto!

Ana

“¡Hola! Me llamo Ana. I am from Seville. I have been living in Glasgow since 2019 and teaching Spanish since 2020. I’m studying other languages myself, so I know exactly how you feel.

My main goal is for you to learn a lot, but above all, to have fun while doing it. I promise you’ll feel comfortable in my classes. When I lived in Spain I was a dubbing and theater actress, I aslo worked in radio for many years.

I don’t know how to be bored. I love cinema, books and most importantly ¡el café!(Every weekend I try a new cafe in Glasgow) —what about you? Come to class and we can tell each other all about it—in Spanish, of course.

¡Hasta pronto!”

Leire

¡Hola! Kaixo! I’m Leire, originally from San Sebastián in the Basque Country. Languages have always been my biggest passion, which led me to move to Glasgow in 2019 to study English Language and Linguistics at the University of Glasgow. Since then, I’ve taught languages to both adults and children, and I’ve had the chance to live in Scotland, Germany and France. Experiencing different languages and cultures first-hand has shown me that making mistakes is simply part of learning — ¡no pasa nada!

As someone with a background in linguistics, I’m fascinated not just by languages themselves, but by how we learn them. This means I can help you understand grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary in a clear, practical way, without making lessons feel like a lecture. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to become more fluent, I’ll adapt our lessons to your goals, helping you build confidence and communicate naturally from day one.

I believe the best learning happens when you feel comfortable enough to speak, ask questions and enjoy the process. My lessons are relaxed, encouraging and full of real-life conversation, because language is about connecting with people, not striving for perfection.

Outside the classroom you’ll usually find me reading, cooking, travelling or doing yoga—and I’m always happy to chat about books, food, languages or whatever interests you. ¡Espero conocerte pronto! Nos vemos en clase.
