Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

How do I know what level I am?

Just complete our enquiry form and let us know about your previous experience with Spanish as best you can. It doesn’t matter if you have done some formal training or just been talking with friends.

The more you tell us the better! Our headteacher will review your answers and find the best class to suit you.

How many students are in the class?

We keep our classes to a maximum of 10 people. That way we can give a more personalised experience and everybody has the change to practice their chat to the max.

Can I try a class before committing?

Of course you can! We want everybody to find their perfect course, and no better way than joining the action! You can come along and attend one session with no commitment. This is traditionally the first lesson in a block depending on the experience (courses are closed to enrolments after week 3 to give the group stability). The only thing you need to do is book a taster class by paying a £10 deposit which will be redeemed against the total cost of the course when you join. If you do not attend the class, your deposit is non refundable. (Those paying in full will have a priority place)

If you are booking a private class, you get a 30 minute taster session with your tutor free of charge before starting.

Do I have to book, or can I just turn up?

Pre-booking is essential for all of our classes- please get in touch, we’d love to have you!

Can I join a course after the start date?

We allow new enrolments up to week 3 of the course, so if you’ve missed the first one please don’t worry. But after week 3 we close enrolments to ensure students have continuity and the best possible experience.

Do you speak Spanish the entire time in class?

We speak as much Spanish as possible, but it depends on the course. We will adapt to our students, encouraging them to express themselves in Spanish at all times, but can switch to English for tricky points and explanations. In any case, don’t worry! We’re committed to making sure everyone is completely comfortable and enjoys every class. We also support your learning with materials being projected at all times during the lesson.

Will I get homework?

Our courses about interaction and building the skill to be ready to chat in Spanish at any time. We rarely send compulsory homework to allow everybody to follow the programme even when they have busy schedules.

What we do is to provide our students with extra materials we upload weekly to an online space called Google Classroom. That way, those with more time and drive can complement and push their learning for better results. These extra tools go from the class’ notes to handouts, links, songs, videos, articles and many other internet resources.

I can’t make it to my class, what should I do?

The best thing to do is let your tutor know by posting a notice in your Google Classroom. You can also use the opportunity to practise by trying to notify us in Spanish! 😉

If you are in a group, we will simply record your attendance and prompt you to check the week’s materials before the next lesson. If you have private classes with us, make sure you give us 48hrs notice so we can simply postpone that session. Otherwise, it will count towards your block. When in doubt, you can always reach us via email, social media and/ or WhatsApp.

Should I join you if I cannot make all the classes in the course?

It is totally up to you. We are aware life is tricky and there will be the odd time when our students cannot attend. We keep the classes chatty, using conversation to polish what we know and expand vocabulary. If you don’t manage a week or two, do not worry as you will be able to access everything we are doing on our online platform. That way, you can check what you miss and will never feel you are behind.

Can I have a refund if I change my mind once the course has started?

When you start your course, you agree to pay for it in full, we do not offer any refunds if you decide to leave regardless of whether you have attended any classes or not.

Do you provide a video link so that I can join my class remotely?

Unfortunately, we’re not able to provide video links to group classes. This is because our classes are fully interactive, we need you in the room! 😊

Who are the teachers?

Learn more about our team in our ‘About’ section. We are all native speaker with a degree in education, sociable, caring and with a passion for teaching!
